Andy and I both grew up in the Monroe area and graduated from Monroe Woodbury high school.I still remember Andy playing the guitar and singing in backyards during any hang out, but I wanted to write about a more specific recent memory.I was at a desk job where the days were long and I would put a post-it note over the clock on my computer so I wouldn’t know how much time I had left to the day.
Are you a black athlete that’s totally unavailable? Now, at my new career in healthcare, I will run through the halls of my hospital in my scrubs and hear Andy playing on the radio and it is just so amazing how life works out. When the show ended, I asked Gavin to autograph my playbill (which was actually on Xerox paper!) I told him that way I’d have his autograph if he ever became famous! He is a beautiful writer and such a strong talent and I knew he was destined for great things.Andy wrote me back and thanked me for the kind words and later invited me to one of his concerts in New York City.
